Greenhaven
‘Southbound’
Greenhaven's two-song seven-inch single debut
proves that hard rock and melody need not be mutually exclusive and actually
make fine bedfellows — and we're not talking namby- pamby hair metal-style
either. The new quartet, fronted by former Windigo singer Matt Strangwayes,
rocks with wild abandon on “Southbound,” a musically driving tune about
truck driving (fancy that) and attendant roadside adventures. The B-side
“Supernature” lacks the adrenaline rush of its sister song due to a plodding
tempo, but it does give guitarist Jay Hofer a chance to show off some fancy
fretwork. Appropriately pressed on green vinyl, this single whets the
appetite for more music from Greenhaven.
